Great win

The Tigers had a very exciting comeback win yesterday coming back down 3-1 in the bottom of the 8th with a 3 run 2 out home run by Poly. Not the person high on the list of hitting a 3 run shot. Then Rodney got his 28 save in 29 tries. He has been very good. Today we go for a series win vs the Rays in the 4 game set. The White sox have been going down hill lately, but the Twins did win again, so we need to keep wining, they are not going to go away, and again, our last ten games of the year are against those two teams.. so it isn't even close to be over yet.

Oh real quick, on the Michigan football players who reported to the Detroit free press that Michigan practices longer then they should, and they have coaches watch things they are not suppose to, and so on... without sounding too much in the known, please. This happens everywhere. All college football and basketball teams do more then 20 hrs a week during the season, which is the limit. With lifting, meetings, watching film and practice, they all go over that. They all do more in the off season then they are suppose to. All coaches happen to "walk by" open gym's or 7 on 7's are going on in the off season that they can't watch. It happens everywhere, it is no big deal. I feel the only reason why it got out, where the players were upset that they were loosing, or I would bet it was players who didn't play as much as they thought they should. When you are 10-2 it's ok if you are working 30 hrs a week playing football, when you are 3-9, it's not. It is sad that these players first, came forward, and second, were bitches about it, and not step up and give their names. I don't think anything will happen from this, the university is investigating and they will find no proof, even though I think it is a 100% true, I also think it happens everywhere.I'm right, you're wrong

NFL season Picks

Well it is that time of year again, time to make my NFL season picks. I will admit, like last year, I don't see the records being close, since I just took each game on the schedule and picked a winner, and then counting up the wins for each team, without looking at streaks and things like that. So this year I have added a window for error if you will. A range where I feel the team will be, with my pick in the middle. A few things to note before looking at this:

1) The Steelers will be good again
2) I think the Pats will be back to 07 form
3) I think the Seahawks will be much better
4) I really do like the Texans
5) I think I overrated the Colts, and they will not do as well as I think
6) The rams, lions, kc, Oakland, sf, buff, nyj, den, and clev, will all be pretty, bad, TB also will not even be close to last year. I also don't like the Bears this year, I just don't think Cutler is a good fit.

AFC:

West:
SD: From 12-4 to 11-5, My Pick: 12-4- Lets face it, the division sucks
Den: From 4-12 to 5-11, My Pick: 4-12- No Cutler, maybe no Marshall, and a new coach who is like 12, yeah, not good.
KC: From 3-13 to 5-11, My Pick:3-13- I am not sold that Cassell will be the answer
Oak: From 2-14 to 4-12, My Pick: 2-14- I just don't see them being good

East:
Pats: From 13-3 to 11-5, My Pick: 13-3- I see them not missing a beat, Brady will be back and it will be like 07 all over again.
NYJ: From 4-12 to 6-10, My Pick: 4-12- sorry Matt, I think it is going to be a tough year
Mia: From 6-10 to 9-7, My Pick: 6-10- I see a step back, the Pats will be better, and people will be ready for them this year.
Buff: From 3-13 to 6-10, My Pick: 3-13- I know TO usually does good his first year with a new team, but I just don't see it this year.

South:
Ten: From 12-4 to 10-6, My Pick: 11-5-They should have another good year
Ind: From 11-5 to 9-7, My Pick: 11-5- Like I said, I maybe overrating them a bit, cause they could have problems, but they still have Manning and Wayne, they should be fine.
Jags: From 11-5 to 9-7, My Pick: 11-5- I liked them last year, and was wrong, lets try it again
Texans: From 11-5 to 8-8, My Pick: 11-5- Ok, so no way all 4 of these teams go 11-5, but there is a chance. I really liked the Texans to break out last year, and they showed some signed if Matt and Andre don't get hurt, I like this team, they just can't make the playoffs in this division right now.

North:
Pitt: From 14-2 to 12-4, My Pick: 14-2- They will have 4 easy games in this division, and then two hard ones against the Ravens, playing the NFC North, will also be fun for them
Balt: From 13-3 to 11-5, My Pick: 13-3-Should be a little better on offense and their defense is still great
Cle: From 6-10 to 4-12, My Pick: 5-11- I really don't like them, if you have two qb's you have none.
Cin: From 1-15 to 4-12, My Pick: 2-14- If Carson doesn't get hurt, maybe they can have a much better year, but I will wait until I see it... child please

NFC:

West:
Cards: From 11-5 to 9-7, My Pick: 10-6- I think they will still win the division but like I mentioned before, I think Seattle will be better.
Sea: From 9-7 to 7-9, My Pick: 9-7- Again I think Hasselback will be back, and they will have a much better year, he has TJ to throw to now, plus E James to go with J Jones and TJ Ducket for a nice backfield mix.
SF: From 1-15 to 3-13, My Pick: 2-14- Really find the wins in their schedule, besides the Rams, and maybe Lions, who else is there.. can't win with them.. can't do it.
STL: From 1-15 to 3-13, My Pick: 2-14- Again, find the wins, San fran and the Lions those are their chances.

East:
NYG: From 13-3 to 11-5, My Pick: 13-3- So I'm a homer, big deal, I am a little worried about not having a big name wide out, but I believe between Hixon and Hicks they can get it done. Plus Smith, Tyree, and Mario for depth, and making big 3rd down catches, manily Steve Smith.. plus another year for Boss in the offense, and with the O line and running game the Giants should be fine.
Phi: From 13-3 to 11-5, My Pick 13-3- Lose the tie breaker to the Giants for the division, and their is a chance Mike Vick ruins this teams chemistry and has them go way down, but I think they will be good enough to make the playoffs for sure.
Dal: From 11-5 to 9-7, My Pick: 10-6- Always drama in big D, when it isn't TO/Whitten/Romo, it's a scoreboard that any punter can hit, as much as I hate them however, I still see at least 10 wins for this team.
Was: From 9-7 to 7-9, My Pick: 9-7- They still have some big question marks at QB, and play in a very tough division, but I still see them at 9 wins, and just missing the playoffs.

South:
NO: From 11-5 to 9-7, My Pick: 10-6- I like the Saints this year to win the division, though, if they fall off ATL and Car will be ready.
ATL: From 11-5 to 9-7, My Pick: 9-7- I see them taking a small step back. People will be ready for them, but they still have a nice team
Car: From 9-7 to 7-9, My Pick: 8-8- They have a chance to be really good, but I just see too many holes, and the Saints and Falcons both getting better, so a 500 season is my pick.
TB: From 3-13 to 5-11, My Pick: 5-11- Their offense has had problems in the preseason, but I am not buying them as one of the worst teams in football, they will be in that second worst group. I think they can find a way to 5 wins.

North:
Min: From 11-5 to 9-7, My Pick: 10-6- We will see what Farve has left, it really isn't a good fit, since all they need is someone to manage the game and not throw picks. Farve had the same amount of INT as he did TD last year, I'm just saying, if he turns around and hands the ball off to ADAP he should be fine.
GB: From 10-6 to 8-8, My Pick: 9-7- I would like nothing more then for the Packers to win the division and for the Viks with Farve to have a tough year, but I think they will just miss out, and be a year away from really taking over this division for the next few years.
Chi: From 5-11 to 7-9, My Pick: 5-11- Sorry I just don't see it. I think Cutler is a bad match for them, they just don't have the weapons, they don't play a style of football that lets him be successful. If I am wrong, I will admit it, but I see a tough year for them.
Det: From 2-14 to 4-12, My Pick: 3-13- And truthfully those 3 wins may be tough, you do have the Rams and 49ers, so great chances for wins their. I just don't see them being much better. They will be better for sure, but when you are 0-16, that isn't saying much. They still have a long way to go.

Playoff Picks:

AFC:

Pit
Pats
SD plays IND
Ten plays Balt
Pitt plays Tenn
Pats play SD
Pitt plays Pats
Pats win 21-17

NFC:

Giants
Saints
Phil plays Min
Cards play Dal
Giants play Cards
Saints play Phil
Giants play Saints
Giants win 24-14

Super Bowl: Pats get their payback and beat my beloved G-men 28-17

MVP: Tom Brady
Offensive ROY: Donald Brown
Defensive ROY: Aaron Curry

Look for the 09 season "put it on the board" predictions coming soon, once me and my old roommate Rob get together and have our annual preseason meeting. I'm right, you're wrong.

Well it wasn't me

So I kept my word and didn't watch the Tigers game at all today, the result? they lost 4-2 and they only run for a Adam Everett, of all people, two run homer. So I am back to watching them. I know now it wasn't me. Their offense can struggling when I am not watching just as much as when I am not watching. But still taking two out of 3 from the Angles on the road is good. So I am happy about that. I'm right, you're wrong

Maybe it's me

So two nights ago I don't watch any of the Tigers game and they score 10 runs. Last night I went to bed when they were down 3-1 and they won 5-3, Granderson and Cabera hit home runs literally 5 minutes after I turned off the game. So I wonder, I am the problem? Now of course I don't really believe I have anything to do with it, the team doesn't know when I am watching and when I am not, but I am a fan, and anything I can do to help their offense score more I will. So for today's game I will be doing a little test, I am not watching the game at all, as much as I want to, and I will see what happens. If they lose 2-1, or something I will know it was just a two night thing, if they score more then 5 runs I will start to think something is up, and will not watch another game until they struggling again. This is being a fan, if the team is playing well, you don't want to do anything that messes it up. Keep doing what you are doing. Also thanks to the Red Sox, the White Sox have lost the last couple to raise our lead over them, the problem, the Twins are getting hot again. This is going to be a fun race all the way down to the final week, since again, the last 10 games the Tigers have are all against the Twins, 4, and White Sox, 6. I'm right, you're wrong.

Tuesday Top ten (Aug 25)

Today the top ten list take a look at the best professional teams in the last 20 years not to win a title. If a team won one year and lost the next(the 08-09-wings and pens) I did not have them on the list.

1) 2007 Pats- They have won some super bowls in the last decade but have not done so with Moss, Walker, and most of their players now so at 18-1 they need to be on the list, I still don't know how my Giants beat them, but I am glad they did.

2) 1998 Jazz- You could go with either Jazz team that lost to the Bulls in the finals. They were a very good team, they just ran in to a common problem for teams on this list, Michael Jordan.

3) 1993 Suns- See above, the Suns had the best record in the league that year, and sir charles was still in his prime, but Jordan and co were just better and won in 6.

4) 1990 Bills- This is another one that I am happy they lost, but in Super Bowl 25, thanks to a 47 yard fg missed by Scott Norwood, the Giants beat the Bills 20-19. The Bills were however a great team, with hall of famers like Jim Kelly, Thurman Thomas, and Bruce Smith, plus Andre Reed, who was a very good underrated wide out, and C. Bennett who was a very good linebacker for them in those early 90's years. Who knows maybe they would have won some more if they didn't have that heart break.

5) 2004 Lakers- The only reason I put them on the list is because they added Malone and Payton and everyone thought the title was already theirs, and there was no reason to play the season. They did have some injuries and guys were not 100% all year, but that is life. They still have plenty of talent to win, but my Pistons got them in the easiest 5 games NBA finals ever.

6) 92 Sonics- Remember Shawn Kept before the drugs, and Gary Payton when he was actually the glove. Mercy Hersy Hawkins, and the rest of the Sonics were a very good team. But again, they ran in to some guy named Jordan.

7) 91-95 Knicks- Really take your pick, the first few years in was loosing to Jordan in the eastern conferees finals, and then they lost to the Rockets in the NBA finals in 7, when they were up 3-2 going back to H-town. Ewing is great, and should be remember as such, but they had plenty of other talented players, they just couldn't beat the Bulls, and when Jordan did leave, the dream was too much for them.

8) 91 Blazers- Cydle, Porter, kearsey, the great kevin Duckworth, a rookie Cliff Robinson, it was a good Blazer team, but again, this guy named Jordan played for the Bulls, and before that, they lost to the Pistons in the finals as well.

9) 2000 Kings- the Kings had some great teams with Webber, Bibby, Hedo, Peja and they should be giving credit. They never even got to the finals witch will hurt them in history being remembered as a good team, but they had some great years there, and if it wasn't for some very good Laker teams they would have gotten to the finals and beaten any team the east had in those years, since the Nets were terrible.

10) 1999 Blazers- Really the same that was said for the Kings can be said for the Blazers in those years. A lot of people remember the big lead the Blazers had in Staples in game 7 in the 4th when the Lakers came back and won, caped off by the Kobe to Shaq alley-opp that has been shown about 1,000 times, but the Blazers were a good team, and they had a nice mix of talented young players and good veterans. The Blazers had some tough years for awhile after this little run, and it is good to see them becoming a contender again, they have a very nice team again. The funny thing is, their 09-10 team will once again have to run in to the Lakers, who are better on paper, and every one's pick, right now, to win another title.

Let me know your list. I only went back 20 years because since I am only 26, I wanted to pick teams I have seen play, and that I remember. I'm right, you're wrong.

Damn it Minor

2-2 bottom of the 9th and we have Zach Minor in and lose, why the hell is he in in the 9th of a tied game? To make it worse the White Sox won last night so we lost a game in our lead as well. It is going to come down to the wire for the Central, since we do play them 6 of our last ten games. Now as much as I don't like Minor and want to blame him, or Leyland for putting him in, really there are a lot of things that happened that lead to the Tigers loosing. It started in the 1st with a lead off double and Poly getting Granderson to 3rd with a single, so we had runners on 1st and 3rd with no outs and 3, 4, 5 in the order coming up, and we could only get one run on a rbi ground out. That hurt, just one big hit away from having a real big innings, instead we get one. Galarraga pitched well, but we need to score more then 1 or 2 runs a game to win, that is all there is to it. But for the record, I still don't like Minor and would not put him in a tied game in the 9th. I'm right, you're wrong

Big win

This year when the Tigers are behind 3 or more runs at anytime during the game, besides the first two innings, you think the game is over. I must admit down 6-2 yesterday in the 6th inning I thought the game was over. I thought the Tigers were about to start a west coast trip by dropping two of three to Seattle at home, before going to LA and Oakland. But the Tigers rallied and showed me a lot in coming all the way back and wining 7-6 on a walk off rbi single by Clete Thomas to take two out of three from Seattle. It was very exciting and as a fan gives you hope that this team will find a way to hold on and win the Central. It will be tough since both the Twins and White Sox still have a chance and there are lots of games left between the 3, in fact the Tigers last ten games of the year are against the two teams, 4 against the Twins and 6 against the White Sox. So the division is a long way away from being decided. But wins like last night gives you hope. Now the Tigers are on the west coast and play the Angles and the A's. If they can even just spilt the 6 games I would be happy, anything more, of course, would be great too. I'm right, you're wrong.

It doesn't seem right to me

I will start this by saying I have always liked Plaxico Burress a lot. It started when he went to MSU. I like MSU and use to go to at least one home football game their a year, until I went to CMU in the fall of 01. so I followed his career and I don't mind the Steelers so I wished him well there, and then he signed with my NY Giants. I was pumped, and got a Burress Giants jersey soon after. He had some very nice years for my G-men, including catching the game wining catch in a super bowl, how long ago does that seem now. After going to a night club with a gun in his pants, and accidentally shooting himself, he was gone for the rest of last year, leaving me to think what if, since the Giants were playing great up until that point, and never were the same after it. But now he has much bigger problems as it was announced today that he will be getting two years in jail. He took a deal since the least he could have gotten if the case went to court was three and a half years. With good behavior he will be out in 20 months but still, this seems like the punishment doesn't fit the crime at all. Was it stupid, yes of course it was, would I be ok with him being suspended for the entire 09 NFL season, yes, but two years in jail for basically shooting yourself is way too much. Isn't it enough punishment to shoot yourself? This is made worse considering the timing. Donte Stallworth just got 30 days in jail for DUI manslaughter. He was driving well over the legal limit and hit someone, and that person sadly passed away. 30 days in jail for basically killing someone. I am not going to pretend like I never drove when I maybe it wasn't the best idea, but I was never that bad, and I have never come close to hitting anyone, and if by any chance I ever did I would deserve a much harsher plenty then 30 days in jail, and I think I would get one. I don't understand why not having a license to carry a gun that goes off, and hits you, and only you, is two years, but driving drunk and killing someone is 30 days. Someone please explain that to me if you can. What Plax did was stupid, I am not defending him, his NFL days should be over, that's fine, but just think how much crap he is going to get in prison, the dude shot himself, hasn't he suffered enough? I'm right, you're wrong.

Tuesday Top Ten (Aug 18)

Due to what happened today my top ten list is easy. Top ten guys who didn't know when to walk away, and stay away.

1) Brett Farve- Really Brett, come on. Please, just go away, no one player has done more to hurt their career in the last few years then him.

2) Gordie Howe- We all love Mr Hockey but he played for the Detroit Vipers, for a sift, in like 99, just to keep a decade streak going.

3) Roger Clemons- Like Farve they should look up the word retired, and find out what it means. I am glad he has actually kind of gone away this year, thanks steroids

4) Emmitt Smith- The Cards, yeah, that's how I remember him.

5) Jerry Rice- As much as I like Rice, the Raiders, and Seahawks, come on Jerry.

6) Michael Jordan- He had the picture perfect end to his career as the greatest basketball player ever, and then he came back as a wizard. The first retirement I will give him a pass on, he wanted to try baseball, it didn't work, he came back and won 3 more times, the second time.. not so much.

7) John Unitis- One of the greatest QB's of all time didn't end his career with the Colts like he should. He was a Charger.

8) John Riggins- Had so many great years in Wash, won super bowls, and then ended his career as a Jet.

9) John Smoltz- Would be nice if he retired a Brave.. and you know what.. he still may, just after a few stops in between first. John, really, walk away.

10) Rickey Henderson- He was the self promoted greatest of all time, but he also stuck around way too long.

there are way more, I'm sure I forgot a lot, so let me know, who you think should be on the list. I know there are plenty more baseball guys who hung on at the end. I'm right, you're wrong.

busy weekend

It was a busy sports weekend, but I didn't really see most it because I had a busy weekend my self in Grand Rapids. I had a great time, glad I got to golf on Saturday Am before our party, only 9 holes but still it was good. The tigers took two of three from KC, so that is good, and their lead is 2 and a half. Which worries me, since the White Sox do have a lot of fire power, but I have faith. I jinxed Tiger Woods yesterday as I was watching the Tigers game, and my brother in law asked why I am watching that over golf.. my response... Tiger is up going in to the last round.. it's over, why watch... sorry, my bad. I am also glad I got to wake board yesterday, thanks to Jesse, my brother in law, my wife went for the first time and did really good, I am so proud of her. Well time to shower, since I have already worked out, and my little girl is watching hip hop harry... what a great start to the day... and I don't care about Mike Vick's 60 min interview, I didn't watch it, and I don't care to see any part of it. I think Vick is just replacing Farve on the ESPN follow everything he does chart. I'm right, you're wrong.

No sweep

Well thanks to a great pitching performance by Justin Verlander the Tigers didn't get swept in their 4 games series with the Red SOx. Justin went 8 strong and gave up only 4 hits and one walk, with 8 Ks. This is why us Tiger fans have hope, because if we can just get anything from our offense, the way Verlander and Jackson has been pitcher we will be tougher to beat then people think in a playoff series, of course we need to get their first. The White Sox are only 2 and a half back. But we have plenty of games left against them, and the Twins, so we control our fate.

I was pissed tonight since the Internet wasn't working for a long time, and thus I missed my yahoo public fantasy draft. This isn't a big deal to me, except it is my first draft, before I have one tomorrow, one next Saturday and one the 6th, so I really was going to use it as practice. But I will be fine. I am not too worried, I ended up with a damn good team considering I missed the draft, so I am happy with that.

I am also very much looking forward to Friday, which is now, technically today. We will be going to Grand Rapids, where I will spend some time with my Grandma and Uncle, as well as my parents, and sister and brother in law, then Friday night I will have a fantasy draft with my best friends, we call ourselves the big 5, then we will be playing poker with a few other guys as well. Saturday we are going to play a quick 9 holes of golf, and then play some basketball. I am very much looking forward to all of this. Then from 4-7 we are having a picnic to celebrate me and steph's weddding, 7 months ago, in Hawaii. It will be a nice time, and the group of us will be staying WAY past 7 to hang out and drink and have some fun. My best friend Scott is coming in from DC, so I am pumped to see him, since the 5 of us rarely are all together anymore.. growing up will do that to you, you get busy. Speaking of busy, a lot of people that I wish could make it will not be making it. I have gone back and forth on this, there has been times where I have really been upset about it, since we had a Hawaii wedding and thus just my parents and sister and brother in law went I look at this picnic as a reception type deal, meaning, if you would go to my wedding, you should go to this. However, I do understand that people are busy, and have a lot going on. Also I know that any date I pick people would not be able to make it. Some of the people have very good excuses of why they can't make it, and others, well, I guess I am not as important to them, as I would have hoped. Oh well, it is going to be fun anyway, it is going to be a great weekend. I am going to bed, cause I can't wait to wake up and start the day.

I know Mike Vick just signed with the Eagles but really I don't care, and have nothing to say about it.. yet. It will be interesting.. I was upset, since I wanted him on the Browns... just so he could join the dog pound... come on.. that's funny. Anyway, everyone deserves a second chance, and I hope it works out for him, as long as he never plays well against my Giants. I'm right, you're wrong.

This is what I hate about baseball

A guy gets hit on the other team, so someone is getting hit on your team, and then when you do, you go crazy, charge the mound, throw your helmet like a bitch, and try to tackle the pitcher, until he flipped you over. Then they both get tossed and our starting pitcher, who is pitching great doesn't last two innings. You know it's coming, just take your base, and move on. If you don't want to be hit, then tell your pitcher's to stop hitting the other teams batters. Last night my Tigers had no chance Minor was starting since Galaraga was sick, not that he would have helped, no Cabera, since he is hurt after being hit, 3 times in two days, and Beckett going for the Red Sox-no chance for my Tigers, and 8-2 was the result. They need to find a way to win tonight, they can't get swept in a 4 games series. Luckily for us, Seattle beat the White Sox so the lead in the central is still two games.

It was just a bad night last night for baseball teams I like, since the Cubs also got killed. Young Jeff S isn't ready to be a starting and having a guy's first start be on nationally TV against the defending champs is a lot to ask for. Hopefully both teams can bounce back tonight. There also is a preseason NFL game tonight, plus I have a fantasy draft for football in a public league on yahoo, I am basically using this as a practice draft, thinking about what I want to do, who I want to take, how long I can wait, and things like that. I really want to take a few locks and then the rest young guys who are sleepers, especially in my keeper leagues since a guy who is a late round pick last year, is a 1st rounder this year, forte, slaton, d williams, ect. Should be a great day, it's 8am, and I have already been to the gym, showered, and checked email and such on line. Tomorrow I will be going back to Grand Rapids since on Saturday we are having a picnic to celebrate our wedding, on our 7 month anniversary, better late then never. I'm right, you're wrong.

Fantasy Football Preview ( a tuesday top ten)

With it being Tuesday, and my first fantasy draft coming up on Thursday, then another Friday, then another next Saturday, and the last on September 6th, and I haven't done a fantasy football preview yet, why not combined the two. So here it goes. Just to add, for those who didn't read the preview last year, there will be bias to guys that I will admit that I like a lot, and also, since I am a Giants fan, again there will be NO Cowboys or Eagles in the top ten at any spot.. I will not do it. sorry. Also, I will not be doing Kickers or Defenses, you can figure that out for yourself.

Top ten RB:

1) Adrian Peterson- LDT's run is over, even I, who likes LDT a lot, will admit Peterson is the clear cut number one, I don't even think it is that close anymore.

2) Maurice Jones-Drew- He is getting a lot of love in fantasy things that I have read so far, here is why I like him for most leagues, he also catches passes and is a legitimate duel threat.

3) Brandon Jacobs- Yes this is my first really big bias pick, since he is a Giant, but he is also a tank and a touchdown machine. Of course he is not a top 5 back, but he is a top 10-15.

4) Burner Turner- MAC love, I like to see guys from the conference do well, and he is very good, and had a great year. I am not totally buying the ATL, I just feel people are sipping a little too much koolaid, but he is a top 5 pick, no question

5) DeAngelo Williams- Again, here is someone getting a whole lot of love in fantasy reports, yeah he had a big year last year, but I still don't know if this season will be even close. Sure he is going to be good, but I think Stewart will get more carries this year, and Williams will have a good year, but not a great year.

6) Frank Gore- I like Gore, but I am worried about the team he plays on, still a top ten pick for sure,

7) Matt Forte- I have seen him high on a lot of boards. I like him, and think he is also a top ten lock in all drafts, but maybe, just maybe with Cutler there now, maybe he doesn't get to run as much.... or I guess maybe there is less guys in the box because of Culter's arm and he has a better year, Um...

8) Chris Johnson- I like Johnson better then some, but I think everyone will agree he is in that 10-15 range at worse

9) Steve Slaton- I have waited quietly to buy the Texans, they have some nice pieces and I think they will be a much better team... maybe even a wild card team, Slaton should have a nice year.

10) Steven Jackson- Like Gore the team that he is on scares me, talent wise though, he needs to be in the top ten.

Top ten WR:

1) Larry Fitzgerald- One of the two great WR that I had last year that lead me to the number one seed all year, and to the title game in both of my pay leagues. Should have another great year.

2) Andre Johnson- He was the other great WR I had on those teams, yeah I know, sick, and I think he will have a better year, he missed some time, as did his qb, so as long as Slaton, Matt, and Andre doesn't get hurt, I see a big year for those 3. I have maid known about my man crush on Andre Johnson, I will do all I can to get him back in the one league that I can't keep him, one league is a keeper league where you can keep up to 4, the other is also a keeper league but you can't keep anyone you draft in the 1st 3 rounds.

3) Randy Moss- Brady is back, Moss should have a great year

4) Steve Smith- I like Smith this year, I think he will have a good year.

5) Calvin Johnson- Such an athletic freak, we will see who is throwing to him, but it will not matter, he will put up good numbers either way.

6) Reggie Wayne- I have Wayne higher then most, or maybe all, one reason, It's all about the U, but really, I think he will have a very big year, Marvin is gone, he is the man now, no question about it.

7) Anquan Boldin- The Cards other wide out, is damn good in his own right.

8) Roddy White- Again I will mention, I am not as sold on the ATL as some others are, but I still think he will have a good enough year to easily make him a top ten wide out

9) Wes Walker- Again Brady is back, I expect a very big year for the Pats

10) Marques Colston- Gets the nod over Bowe and Marhsall because he has a much better qb throwing to him... and no I don't think Matt Cassel is going to be the guy to turn it around in KC.

Note: Greg Jennings is a top ten lock as well, but he went to western michigan, so I couldn't put him on the list... also... he is a cowboy so I didn't put him on, but I really do think that Roy Williams with T.O. gone will have a very big year as their number one wr.

Top ten QB:

1) Tom Brady- I have said this before, I except a big big year from him

2) Drew Brees- Can't go wrong with him

3) Peyton Manning- He is still a top 3 qb, and will have a great year

4) Kurt Warner- How can he not have a good year, look at his WR

5) Phillip Rivers- Maybe a little high, maybe a little wishful thinking, I kept him in one of my keeper leagues ( I drafted him in the 10th round last year, and must give up a 9th round pick to keep him) but I do think he will have a good year, and did throw for the most TD's last year, as well as the most yards.

6) Matt Schaub- Again, this is not news, I am on the record saying how good I think the Texans offense will be, if they don't get hurt

7) Aaron Rodgers- Not crazy about him, but I guess he is a top ten qb lock

8) Big Ben- Might not have the best numbers, but he just wins, and doesn't turn the ball over

9) Matt Ryan- Again, I am not sold on the ATL as much as others, but he should still be ok

10) Carson Palmer- Has all the makings of being a later round qb that gets the same type of numbers as those drafted many many rounds before him.

Top ten TE:

1) Antonio Gates- This should not be a surprise to anyone

2) Dallas Clark- nor should this

3) Tony G- Going over to ATL, should help Ryan and co, and his numbers

4) Chris Cooley- He is in the Giants division but I don't mind him too much

5) Greg Olsen- I drafted him too high a few years ago, hoping for good things, It's all about the U, as you should know by now, this year, hopefully he will have a nice year.

6) Kellen Winslow- It is all about the U, plus he's a F*cking shoulder.

7) Owen Daniels- Again Texans should have a good year offensively, and I think Daniels will as well

8) Heath Miller- A great value pick later on if you miss out on the first 3 or 4 TE

9) John Carlson- Matt should be back, and the Seahawks will have a better year, I mean they have to, don't they

10) Kevin Boss- Ok, so he isn't a top ten TE, but he is on my G-men and I will show him love. Plus, I do think he will have a better year, and catch more TD's with Burress and Toomer gone.

OK, there it is, again Kickers and Defense get them the last two rounds, and be happy with it. I am looking forward hearing how dumb I am, just remember no Cowboys or Eagles, I know about them, so don't even mention them.

Again, like last year, I will leave you with my top ten fantasy football rules:

1) Have fun
2) Be prepared for the draft
3) Have some sleepers in mind
4) Talk a lot of crap
5) know the bye weeks going in.. but also don't be afraid to get a stacked team, if it means loosing one week, cause of byes
6) No Cowboys
7) No Eagles
8) Again, Talk smack.. it needs to be mentioned twice
9) Check your team at least once a week
10) You are in it to win it... again, have fun, but why do it, if you don't want to win.. and don't try as hard as you can to win. I'm right, you're wrong

I hate being right

I wrote yesterday, go ahead and look, that I was worried about playing the Red Sox right now because they need a win, and I was worried they would take it out on the Tigers. Well in two innings they already had more runs then they do the last 3 games combined. Normally if the Tigers score 5 runs I feel great that it is a win, as it should be for most teams, most nights, but last night, it wasn't enough. After showing something by being down 4-0 before coming back to make it 5-5, we then put Minor in. I don't know why Jim Leyland hates me so much. How many times does he have to mess up before he stops putting him in when the game is on the line. Of course to be fair the big hit was a ground ball that went right through the middle that he just missed hitting with his foot, and both Evertt and Poly both just missed on a dive, letting the runner go from 1st to 3rd on the single, cause he was running, and then a SAC fly scored him. I just don't like him. Minor and Seay takes turns being the Tiger I hate the most. Anyway three more games left in the series, and I would be very happy with a spilt, I just hope they can get it. They need to win two of these next three, hopefully the first one will be tonight. As promised, later today I will do my fantasy football preview. I'm right, you're wrong

Looking ahead

The Tigers take two out of 3 from the Twins, the Indiana's take two out of 3 from the White Sox, Tiger wins again, Patrick Krane beats up a cab driver over 20 cents, that is terrible, but really funny at the same time, Football season is here, as we had the Hall of Fame game last night, and all college practices are now under way, fantasy draft time is here, it is a great time to be a sports fan. Well, who I am kidding, all the time is a great time to be a sports fan. Tomorrow, in tune with top ten Tuesday, I will be doing my fantasy football preview, with the top ten players in each position. Also looking ahead, I will once again do my NFL preseason picks, where I will again, look at every game and predict the records for each team, and who is going to win. As far as college football goes, I think I will just wait till the games start, and then each Friday do my games to watch list, and then on Monday my top moments of the college football weekend. Got to love fall. I'm also happy because I held on wining ERA by .001 last week, thanks to a certain red sox going 0-4 last night, so I still have a chance to make the playoffs in my paid league. The Tigers start a series tonight with the struggling Red Sox, which kind of scares me. One, you think great, we are catching them at the right time, but a part of me thinks, oh no, they are going to take it out on us. I am hoping to take two out of three from them, but as long as we don't get swept we will be fine. I'm right, you're wrong.

Big Ben is Back in the D

Ben Wallace has signed a one year contract to come back to the D. I really don't know how I feel about this. I guess it's good, we know what we are getting, we want someone to be tough, rebound, and help the young guys out. Maybe him and RIP will both take a leadership mentor role to Ben and Charlie and play less minutes as they help them both on and off the court. I still think RIP needs to be traded, unless he is ok with not playing as much, or maybe being the backup 3, or at times maybe playing ta as your point forward, and then have ben and rip with charlie and then, now here is the question, who is the 5. Ben? Brown? Wilcox? does Jason M and Oberto can time there as well. This will be very interesting to see what happens with this team. Welcome back Ben, I hope this works out.

The Tigers after taking 3 of 4 from the birds now have a big weekend series with the Twins before going to Boston. This is a big series because the Twins are now 4 and a half back, if they can sweep, or even win 2 out of 3, it gives them one less team to worry about. They can just focus on the White Sox, who are now 2 games back, and the Twins will drift away. Of course, if the Twins come in to Comerica and take a couple, they are right back in it, and it will be a long, tight, 3 team battle all the way though. Yesterday featured the ML debut for Alax Avila, who gave us some offense in the back up catcher role, something Dane Sardina and Dustin Ryan didn't do, he went 2-4 with a rbi double and a run scored, not bad at all from double A. But someone reminded me, no one has film on him yet, give is a few weeks, once tape is out on him and then people know how to pitch him. So we will see. either way, it was a nice first game, and I am hoping for the best. I'm right, you're wrong

Eli your free pass is over

Eli Manning today signed a extension worth almost 100 million dollars. Making him the highest paid player in the NFL, if all of the incentives kick in. Look, taking away all of that for a second, even if he isn't the highest paid, even if he is just in the top 3 or 5, that is crazy to me. I love the Giants, and since he did win a super bowl as their starting qb I like him and support him. Though I was really mad when they traded for him, I thought they gave up way too much, since he won a ring for my G-men, I looked past it. Well guess what? Not anymore. No more free passes for Eli. Now I don't just want a guy who doesn't throw a lot of picks, or can get us to the playoffs, I want a guy who leads us to championships, who throws 35-40 td's a year. I am worried for anyone around me during any Giants game this year, or for the next 6 for that matter, because I will most likely go crazy over every mistake he makes. Sure he is going to make some mistakes, of course, he is human after all, but I expect him to play like a top level qb, no more will I be happy with him being a top 10-15 qb, NO, I know expect him to play like a top 3 qb, one of the best in the NFL. Why? Because he is getting paid like it. Time to step it up Eli, I'll be waiting, I hope you are ready. I'm right, you're wrong.

Tuesday Top Ten (Aug 4)

This week our top ten will not be about sports, we will be going with my top ten favorite movies. Note this is not the ten best movies I have seen, just my ten favorite. I would love to know your list to, even though it will not be as good as mine.

1) Ace Ventura Pet Detective- I just love this movie, know every word, it is a classic

2) Old School- It was tough between this one and the one at number 3, you can't go wrong with either

3) Van Wilder- such a great movie, I still remember how hard I laughed when I saw it for the first time in the theaters

4) Knocked up- A very funny movie, made better to me, that I knocked up a girl around the same time, and we went to see this as our second date

5) Wedding Crashers- Really besides the first 15 minutes or so, this is a romantic chick flick with some laughs throw in, but there are enough laughs to put it in the top 5

6) Love and Basketball- To me this is the perfect movie. There is enough sports to keep the men happy, and a good love story line to keep the women happy.

7) Super Bad- Words can not express how funny this movie is, I can't not laugh at it

8) Office Space- A personally favorite, there was a time where me and my best friend Scott watched it every Monday after RAW, it gets funnier each time.

9) Forgetting Sarah Marshall/ 40 year old virgin- It's a tie, I can't pick one, so I will not. Both are very funny, and I have them in my top ten, well I guess it's my top 12, whatever.

10) Batman Begins/Dark Knight- Again I will not pick one, these movies are great, and they actually are good movies, unlike most of the movies on this list of mine that are just funny, or gross, or a little bit of both.

Some that were close to making the cut, that may have to be added after thought: Beer fest, Grandma's boy, he got game, blue chips, Hoosiers, rocky 1, 2, 3, and 4, Elf, Dodge ball, ect, ect. I'm right, you're wrong.

CLEEEEEEEEEEEEETE

What a game last night for the Tigers. Their ace Justin Verlander gives up 5 runs with only one out in the 1st, and then doesn't give up one for the rest of the game, and the Tigers win 6-5 with a walk off Homer by Clete Thomas in the bottom of the 9th. I am hoping this will be the game that will turn it around for the Tigers, and give them the push they need to win the Central. I'm right, you're wrong

Tigers need to turn it around

How quickly it can turn. After wining 3 of 4 vs the White sox, things were looking good for the Tigers, now they have lost 5 of 6. They play two extra inning games vs Cleveland, splitting the two, which I guess I can take, but then yesterday they get blown out 11-1. Now the good news, Verlander, and Washburn didn't go in that series, but Jackson didn't look good at all, which is cause for some concern. As long as they hold on and make the playoffs, that 3 man short series rotation should be tough to beat. But the offense also needs to come alive. They can't give up at bats, and they need guys who will take some pitches and work walks, not every hit has to be a home run guys. At times this year, they have played great small ball, put down great sac punts, went from 1st to 3rd on a single, had sac flys, even a suicide squeeze has worked. But lately it has been leaving men on base, having the bases loaded with one out and not scoring, just things that can not happen if you want to win games in August and September. I still feel good about their chances, but I am worried, that is for sure. They need to turn it around quickly. There are not too many weeks left, believe it or not. They have a home stand here this week, it is important they win each series. Go Tigers, come on boys, you can do it. I'm right, you're wrong
